Useful information – How to get a pink card with P&D Law Firm assistance

Welcome to our site,

Our law firm has been providing legal services to immigrants and refugees in Greece for the past 11 years, offering them the chance to live and work in Greece, as well as in the European Union, under legitimate status. We have particularly been specializing in representing refugees, seeking political asylum in Greece, to all competent authorities in order to help them obtain a pink card and be recognized as person under the status of refugee.

“What is a pink card? What is the status of refugee under Greek Law?”
To better answer the questions above, it is would be better to explain what exactly is a refugee and the process for someone to be recognized as a refugee in Greece.
Any non-Greek and non-E.U. national that comes into Greece because of reasonable fear to stay in his country of origin, due to possible persecution because of his ethnicity, religion, political beliefs or sexual orientation is considered to be a refugee. Refugees are protected against deportation back to their country even if they have come illegally in the Greek territory and are granted the right to live and work in Greece.
The process is briefly the following: the person fills in an application form, by which he officially requests to be granted the refugee status. He hands over the application form, with 4 photos of him, to the competent Greek Police authorities – Departments of political asylum, after he has paid a fee of 200 euros, according to domestic law.
The Police Authorities will immediately hand over to the person a “pink card” (officially: “Card of an alien that has requested the refugee status”). The pink card does not mean that the person holding it is a refugee; however, the pink card gives its holder the right to stay, live and work in Greece for a minimum period of 6 months. If, by the end of these 6 months, the process of examining the application of the person has not been completed yet, the card can be renewed for another 6 months, free of charge. This can be repeated for as long as it takes until the application has been examined. If the application is rejected, the person has the right to make an appeal, also free of charge, and the process can be repeated. This time usually takes up to 2-3 years. During this period, the holder of the pink card is free to live and work in Greece!
If the person is finally granted the refugee status, he will be given a special permit to permanently work and live in Greece, enjoying equally all rights of a Greek and E.U. national, except the right to vote in national elections.
Examining one’s application for political asylum is done by interview. Our Firm will help you get a pink card and will contact you in time to notify you about the interview, during which you will be accompanied by one of our associates.

“Why Greece?”
Greece has been full member of the European Union since 1981 and is member of the Schengen Treaty. According to this Treaty, anyone that comes into a member state of the Treaty can travel freely to all other member states, without any border controls. Member states also include Germany, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark. Sweden, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary and new countries are added from year to year. Greece is the first EU member and Schengen Treaty state that you will come into, when traveling from Turkey. Once in Greece, you will be able to travel free anywhere in the countries listed above.

“Do I have to come in Greece to fill in the refugee application form?”
“I have come to Greece illegally and I fear that if I show up personally in the Police Authorities, I might get arrested and deported. How can I apply for the refugee status?”
“I don’t have a passport. Can I request political asylum?”
It is not necessary for the person that wants to be recognized as a refugee to personally show up to the Police. Everyone has the right to be legally represented by a lawyer to all Greek Authorities, according to Law.
This is the point where out Law Firm comes to offer its services to you. We can represent you throughout the entire process, without any need for you to go to the Police or even come to Greece! Our Firm will keep you informed throughout the process and will take for you every necessary legal action to protect your interests.
We can help you acquire a pink card while you are still in your country!
It is not necessary to have a passport. The Greek Law has predicted that refugees will not always have passports because the government of the country of their origin might refuse to give them any.
In case you have already come illegally into Greece, the process will remain the same. With our help, you will get a pink card and be able to stay legally in our country.

“How much will it cost me for you to represent me in the asylum process?”
As it is mentioned above, the fee, according to Law, to apply for political asylum is 200 euros. This amount will go to the Greek State, as a tax for the process. Our price for our services to you is an amount of another 200 euros. The total is 400 euros, which you will only have to pay once, throughout the entire process. However, there is no need for you to send the entire amount right away. You will only have to send us 200 euros at first, so that we will be able to pay the necessary fees for your application. After that, our Firm will post you your pink card. Only after you have received your card you will be kindly asked to pay us the rest of the amount (the rest 200 euros), which will be the price for our services to you.

“What do I need to do, in order for you to represent me?”

You will have to proceed according to the following steps:
1.Print and fill in the nearby form “1”. This is the document by which you give us the right to legally represent you to all Greek Authorities. Make sure you write your current address, so that we will be able to post you your pink card. Don’t forget to sign!
2.Print and fill in the nearby form “2”. This is the application form by which you officially request the status of the refugee. Again, don’t forget to sign!
→Note: Please fill in forms “1” and “2” in CAPITAL LATIN LETTERS with clear handwriting.
(In case you face difficulties in copying these forms, you can contact us by e-mail at: PetrosDaniel@gmail.com . We will be happy to assist you and send you these forms by e-mail).

3.Make sure you have 4 recent color photos of you – ordinary passport type photos will be fine.
4.Put the forms “1” and “2” and the photos in an envelope. Also, place in the envelope an amount of 200 euros, which we will need in order to pay the fees of the application. Please note that we will not accept any kind of paychecks; we are sorry for this inconvenience but in the past our Firm could not retrieve the necessary amounts and couldn’t get paid because of invalid paychecks. For safety reasons, you are advised to place the amount in a smaller envelope first and then place the smaller envelope into the bigger envelope.
5.Send the envelope to the following address:

P&D Law Firm,
Enanti T.E.I. – Sindos, Thessaloniki
T.K. 574 00 - GREECE

6.The process for us to hand over your application usually takes up to 4-5 days. When handing over your application, we will receive your pink card, which we will send to you right away. When you receive your pink card, you will be kindly asked to send us the rest of the amount (200 euros), which is our price for the services provided.
7.Next, when you will come to Greece, you will have to notify us about your address and phone number, so that we will be able to inform you about the interview of examining your application.

“I am married and have children. What to I have to for my family to be granted the status of refugee?”
Your wife/husband has to apply for the status of refugee separately of you, as if she/he was by her/his own. However, you will not have to take any action for your children, as long as they are under 18 years old. Your children will always be legally protected by you. All you have to do, when you will come to Greece, is simply have a birth certificate of your children.
